Tobago / Special Interests / Family
Tobago is an good location for a quiet family holiday, and children are generally welcome, although you will find that though being well known as the ‘Robinson Crusoe’ island, you won’t find any attractions other than the beach, the ocean and an abundance of birds, wildlife and the oldest protected rainforest in the western hemisphere. Off-road safaris, fishing, mountain biking and horse riding are all available. Villa resorts and private villas probably offer the best environment for a relaxed holiday with children, but with so few directly on the beach, you will need to hire a car. Try Plantation Beach Villas, which works extremely well for families. Nearby Villas at Stonehaven is another good option. Babysitting is usually arranged with the housekeepers at villas, and you would expect to pay TT$20 per hour, plus transport home, particularly if you are staying at a private villa.
