Barbados / Sport

By James Henderson

Cycling

Barbados has a number of road-cyclists who compete at regional and international level. There is a 400m, eight-lane rubberised cycle track at the National Stadium.

For bike rentals try Flex Bicycle Tours and Rentals, Speightstown, or the Dread or Dead surf shop in Hastings which also has bikes for hire.

Fencing

This is a relatively new sport in Barbados, however the island is now a member of the Commonwealth Fencing Federation and the sport is officially recognised by the Barbados Olympic Association. This followed the founding of The Barbados Fencing Federation by The Barbados Fencing Club, which was formed in 2000.
