Cayman Islands / Horse Racing/Riding
A number of riding stables exist on Grand Cayman, though not on either of the Sister Islands. Trekking along the beach is possible at Barker’s at the West End of Grand Cayman. This area is as undeveloped as any on Grand Cayman and provides visitors with a true desert island feel, as well as often being a spot where there is a wonderfully cooling sea breeze. Riding on Grand Cayman can be done on inland forest trails, along the beach or even – by taking your mount into the shallows for a bareback swim. Several of the stables can provide picnic excursions on horseback. Some stables offer ‘western style’ saddles, though most use the familiar English type.
There are stables near Bodden Town towards the centre of Grand Cayman. Riding centres will usually offer early morning and sunset rides to avoid the heat of the midday sun, popular with both riders and horses. We recommend Coral Stone Stables and Pampered Ponies.
