Dominica's tourism product is completely different to the mainstream in Caribbean terms and its accommodation profile reflects that.

While business travel has also been negligible historically it’s changing slowly in the capital Roseau, and the niche market growth in nature and adventure based tourism in recent years has resulted in a number of exciting new developments of varying scale and enterprise around the country.

Beach based hotels are few and far between, instead there are a number of hostelries in dramatic coastal locations and a wide cross section of “eco” destinations in remarkable mountain and river valley settings. The country’s singular topography is an effective bulwark against the ravages of mass market tourism seen elsewhere in the region and hotel rates also tend to be significantly lower.
